Minecraft 1.21.4: What is being added?
The expansion of The Garden Awakens finally added in 1.21.4
What does this expansion add to the game?
It adds a new mob, a new biome, along with new blocks and resources that the player can obtain from adventuring through this new pale forest. It is quite a small update, but it adds some interesting mechanics to the game.
New Mob: The Creaking
The Creaking looks like a tree with a couple eyes on its head. It is meant to follow you around while you’re in the pale forest and not looking at it. However, it is locked into the radius from it’s dedicated heart block. This mob has half a heart of health, but is invincible as long as it’s corresponding Heart block is still present.
Creaking Heart
- A block generated in pale oak trees, usually covered on all sides by pale oak wood logs.
- Can be found activated in the pale garden biome.
- Sends a trail of particles towards the connected Creaking mob when it is damaged by a player.
Pale Oak wood type
A new type of wood, which comes with all the usual wooden resources or blocks any other wood type comes with. Which are the following:

A couple new plant blocks, resembling the moss blocks we have already had from older updates such as the Cave Update.

New Material and its blocks
Resin Clump is a material that is made from the Creaking Heart whenever the corresponding Creaking is damaged. A Resin Brick is made by smelting these Clumps in a furnace, similar to obtaining charcoal. Perhaps builders can make use of these new orange brick blocks?

The New Biome
The Pale Garden is a new forest-type biome, it looks very monochrome and eery, which is definitely the style that was perhaps missing in the Overworld, like a graveyard.
Release Date
1.21.4 is planned to release on Dec 3th, 2024, which is 6 days from the day this blog is posted! However, servers should hold before upgrading to this version if they are using Paper, as many plugins may not support 1.21.4 yet which can cause issues once upgraded.
